Some Final Points
If you make a decision to go with an alternative health non-toxic approach to treat cancer, you will find not only the treatment plans advised on this site but many other options once you start your research. I have had no personal experience of these other options but I have researched quite a few of them and they sound extremely promising.
As there are many different alternative approaches you may feel overwhelmed by all these possible health treatments. There are far too many to go into in any great detail on this site, but there are dedicated sites, and books that will help to point you in the right direction, that are mentioned on another page on my site HERE
In particular there is an excellent book (featured at the end of this page) that explains the different treatments available in detail so you can make an informed choice.
When trying to work out the overall effectiveness of alternative health treatments as a whole, it is worth remembering the following points:
Points to Remember about Alternative Approaches
No cancer treatment, whether conventional or alternative, is 100 percent effective in 100 percent of people. This is because cancer is a complex health condition that occurs when people’s bodies are toxic, out of balance, or weakened in other ways.
However, I can confidently say that alternative health therapies are far superior to conventional therapy when it comes to cancer treatments. A number of alternative therapies can give a far better prognosis than conventional therapies, that can only manage a miserable 3% recovery rate, despite all the technology and funds at their disposal.
If you haven’t already signed up for a 5 part email course on the current medical treatments for breast cancer, please Go Here and complete the short form at the end of the page.
Most people who use alternative health therapies start them when their body is already in a severely weakened state. This is usually after following a conventional course of treatment, and so start the therapy at a much later stage of their disease. For alternative health therapies to have a chance to work, they are best started as soon as possible after diagnosis for the best chance of recovery.
Because most people are not aware of the benefits of natural non-toxic treatments, (and doctors often discourage a patient to seek them out) they tend to go with conventional treatments first.
It is only when these treatments have failed that many people then turn to alternatives. This tends to bring down the success rate, as bodies ravaged by radiation or toxic drugs mean that the cancer may have spread more extensively, so the chances of recovery will not be as good.
Having said that, even advanced stages of cancer have been cured miraculously through alternative therapy, and there are many cases of people who have lived for many years cancer-free after their doctors had given up on them so don’t despair. Top of Page
Choosing and Engaging a Therapist
Another thing to remember is that a lot of alternative therapies are more self administered than conventional therapies. Therefore there will always be some people who will either not administer the therapy properly or not give it enough time to work before declaring it a failure.
It is therefore vital to ensure that you engage an alternative health practitioner who will work with you and be able to monitor your progress. Doing some research to find a suitable practitioner, preferably one where you won’t have to travel too far, is always a good thing. This is to make sure you are carrying the treatment plan out properly and you also have support to help guide you through it.
Feel free to ask what success your alternative health practitioner has had in their treatments of cancer but don’t expect any hard statistics, numbers or studies. The best answer you are likely to get, based on my experience, is a comment based on experience with their patients.
This information is still valuable, especially if it comes from a former doctor of medicine who has turned away from conventional cancer treatments. In the UK there are quite a few medical doctors who now practice alternative medicine
Most alternative doctors will want you to come in for a consultation with all your diagnostic test results. These could be X rays, biopsy reports, scans, blood results and whatever you have been able to get from your physicians so far. This is also a time to discuss the costs of consultations, treatments and follow up support.
Most alternative health practitioners are willing to send information through to you and this will probably give you an idea as to what treatment regime and practitioner you wish to follow based on this information. It will also give you an idea as to the likelihood of that particular approach working well for you, and even how long it is likely to take to get well again. Top of page
The Nutritional Approach
If you are planning to use the nutritional therapy based treatments featured on this site, be aware that it is difficult in this modern world to find fruits and vegetables grown in truly balanced healthy soil.
Even organically grown produce is likely to come from soil that has been over-harvested. Therefore, supplements will need to be taken to make up the shortfall in nutrients, as well as some health supplements specifically targeted at cancer cells.
Due to the amount of toxins in the environment and in modern food production, people have more toxins in their bodies than they used to years ago. Therefore it is also vital to undergo a detoxification regime before starting any diet so you can have the best possible start - and more chance of a successful recovery.
All of the successful nutritional approaches like B17 (or Laetrile), Essiac, and others can be combined to maximize your chance of recovery. Your practitioner will advise you which nutrients may counteract each other so be guided by them.
Generally, alternative non-toxic cancer approaches work well for Most types of cancer, and are not focused on treating specific cancers the way conventional treatments are. This is because they focus on the common characteristics of all cancers.
Some alternative approaches are particularly good at dealing with particular systems of the body. For example, B17 and Essiac is particularly good at treating breast cancer, but it is also good at treating other cancers as well, as many testimonials and other evidence has proved. Top of Page
Dealing with conventional doctors
Every person who chooses an alternative health approach to get rid of their cancer will be going against the grain of modern medicine. One difficulty may be in declining the treatment your doctor or consultant thinks you should get.
Most people are firstly diagnosed by conventional medicine and it is not an easy task to turn down a medical specialist’s opinion – especially if you gain the impression from them that by not taking their advice you will be killing yourself.
One thing to remember in this situation is that specialist or not, your doctor is supposed to be working for your health interests – in fact you are paying for his or her professional service. You can listen to the advice but whether you take that advice or not is entirely up to you.
You may still need to see your doctor from time to time for blood tests, MRI scans or other regular tests to monitor progress. I recommend being as open as possible with your doctor and to give them the opportunity to decide to follow your progress whilst you use an alternative approach. You may be surprised that your doctor is more open minded than you realised.
If, however, your doctor takes a different stance against alternative approaches and will not prescribe diagnostic tests unless you are under a conventional treatment regime, then you have the opportunity of finding another doctor who will.
I recommend that you make the effort to find a doctor with whom you can work openly. By doing that, you are also emotionally standing up for yourself and your right to choose your own treatment.
It is also important for doctors to find out how many people choose alternatives health approaches and how well they work – in this way you are helping to educate them.
My doctor, for example, despite being dismayed and dismissive at my decision, was still interested in studying my treatment protocol, and took a copy of it. Whether or not he was influenced by it, I don’t know as I have since moved away from the area I used to live - but you never know! Top of page
Monitoring your Progress
One tricky situation can arise when you are administering your own health treatments with just monitoring support once every 3-6 months or longer. I found there was a tendency to interpret every slight ache and pain or discomfort as a sign the cancer was getting “worse”. This is where a good alternative health practitioner, family support or a support group becomes invaluable.
Some level of discomfort, pain and/or swelling can be a normal part of the road to recovery. But if you don’t have some support to tell you these symptoms are nothing to worry about, it can be very scary. I will always remember, 3 months into my treatment when I caught an intestinal virus complicated by a yeast infection (candidiasis)
During the illness, the weight fell off me, I had a high temperature, and worse of all, I was too sick to eat very much or take my supplements for some weeks because of how awful I was feeling. My consultant was 160 miles away in London, and I was convinced for a time at my lowest point that my cancer had spread to my bowel and I was wasting away.
However, I consulted a local alternative therapist recommended to me by a friend, who temporarily took over my health care – and I am so glad he did! He was able to tell me exactly what my health problem was (my own doctor didn’t have a clue and the prescribed medicine was useless) and treated me with a combination of homeopathic medicine, a special diet, health supplements and fasting until I recovered.
It was a nasty illness - but it had nothing whatsoever to do with cancer! He also gave me emotional support at a time I needed it – especially when he approved and encouraged my treatment choices with treating breast cancer and gave me a lot of useful advice when I needed it the most.
I realise that if I hadn't had this vital support I may have decided the treatment wasn't working, and may have even given up on my treatment plan altogether. Luckily that wasn't the case, but I can understand the pressures some people may be under by going against medical advice. Top of Page
Some Final Points
Unfortunately some people stop using an alternative cancer treatment just when the treatment is becoming effective, because they don’t have any support or monitoring and think they are getting worse.
When you think about it, if chemotherapy was a self administered therapy, how many people would stick with it after bouts of vomiting, hair loss and other unpleasant symptoms? Patients stick with it as their doctors tell them the symptoms are a normal part of the treatment and it is necessary to go through it in order to get well.
Although any discomfort you may go through with alternative approaches is far less severe, it is important to know what to expect. The good news is that when you take charge of your own health you end up playing a much bigger role in your own recovery. You need to do more of your own research and thinking than you would under conventional treatment, but it can be very empowering.
Finally, as alternative cancer treatments are non-toxic, you can carry on with treatment every day for as long as it takes to rid yourself of cancer. Some people even carry on indefinitely once they start feeling so well – this is especially true with diet based treatments.
In contrast, under conventional regimes, the drugs you are given are so toxic that doctors have to allow time for the body to recover in between bouts of treatment otherwise it would kill the body long before the cancer.
Also during this recovery time, when the body and immune system is severely weakened, there is a danger the cancer can return stronger than before. This fact alone should reassure you that alternative therapies are far superior. Top of Page
